For starters, there are two noteworthy radio events. The duet Little Windows, featuring Mark Weems and Julee Glaub, will be interviewed on this week's NPR program Thistle and Shamrock by host Fiona Ritchie. "Meet Julee Glaub and Mark Weems who mix Appalachian and Irish music and relish the beauty of two unaccompanied voices in close harmony. Hear them weave their timeless harmonies and talk about the power of communal song." The show airs locally at 7:00 pm on Sunday night on WUNC, 91.5, right before Back Porch Music. Also, Big Medicine, comprised of Bobb Head, Jim Collier, Joe Newberry, and Ken Jackson, will be performing on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion, broadcast live this week from DPAC in downtown Durham. Although the show is sold out, it can be heard locally on WUNC at 6:00 pm Saturday, May 9, and 1:00 pm Sunday. Big Medicine will be performing material from their new CD, "Pine to Pine", available at bigmedmusic.com. Finally, AC. Bushnell and the HappyJoy Band have a CD release party for their new recording "Moon in the Trees" Saturday night at the ArtsCenter in Carrboro. The show is at 8:30 pm, and tickets are $15/$13 for friends of the ArtsCenter.
